Best shoes for quidditch
Looking for the best shoes for quidditch? Are you wondering if you can use shoes you already own? In this article, I will give you all the information you need.
For starters, quidditch is almost always played on grass, so cleats are always a good option for similar reasons why we use cleats in soccer and football.
Cleats usually provide a better grip than other type of shoes in grass fields. Especially when the grass is wet, other shoes might be a bit tricky.
If you don’t like cleats, don’t worry, I will provide alternatives as well.
List of the best quidditch shoes
Let’s take a look at the best quidditch shoes. I will start with outdoor shoes and follow up with options for indoor quidditch.
Adidas Unisex Goletto
A very solid overall cleat, originally made for soocer, is the Adidas Unisex Goletto. It has a synthetic sole and feels really comfortable when wearing them on grass fields.
They are unisex, don’t cost too much, are pretty solid overall, what would you want more?
Unsurprisingly, these shoes are great for quidditch, even though they are originally meant to be used in soccer.
However, if you want a higher quality shoe, that’s maybe a bit more durable, a shoe like the adidas copa might be a better fit for you!

Adidas Copa
Adidas Copa is a very solid soccer cleat, praised for performance and durability, a true workhorse.
Having owned multiple of these shoes, I can personally vouch that these shoes will not disappoint on the quidditch field.
Once again, these shoes are pretty all round, but they are mostly known for very high durability and built quality. They contain a combination of synthetic materials and leather.
In terms of pricing, they are a bit middle of the road. Overall, they are definitely considered good value though.

Salomon speedcross
If you don’t want to use cleats, the Salomon speedcross are a solid option.
They are originally made as trail running shoes. This means that they will perform great on various terrain and they have excellent grip.
Especially when you want to use the shoe for multiple types of outdoor games/sports on different types of terrain, this might be the right option for you.
There are plenty of solid non cleat options, but the salomon speedcross is one of my favourites. They have amazing grip, or pretty comfortable, lightweight and still provide a decent amount of support.

Best indoor quidditch shoe
Even though it’s a bit rare, quidditch can also be played indoors. Obviously, this will require different type of footwear.
Adidas Samba Classic
If you are looking for a solid all round indoor shoe, that isn’t too expensive, you really can’t go wrong with the adidas samba classic.
Once again, a shoe that was originally intended as a soccer shoe ends up performing really well in quidditch.
The main benefit of the Samba is the good grip. Also, depending on size and time of purchase, these shoes can be found for a really good price.

Adidas Performance Mundial
The Adidas performance mundials are generally a bit more expensive. However, they are also praised more.
These shoes are very comfortable, also have good grip, are very durable. When you have them on your feet it gives you a feeling of trust and protection.
They do tend to run a bit large, so make sure to consult sizing advice before purchasing, or simply try them on in a store.

What to look for in a quidditch shoe?
Even though I have covered the topic of what’s important in a quidditch shoe a bit at the beginning of the article, it’s time to dive a bit deeper.
If you are wondering if you can use the shoes you already own, you should be able to find an answer.
Usually, good outdoor sport shoes will have most of the features that we are looking for in a quidditch shoe.
However, there are still many differences between sport shoes, so let me break down the most important ones.
Traction (good grip)
Most quidditch games are played on a grass field. For grass, you need a decent grip, especially when grass gets wet.
Good traction is one of the most important factors when it comes to quidditch shoes.
Cleats, trail running shoes, or even regular shoes that are praised for their grip are good options.
Lightweight
Just like with most sports, we want to be quick on our feet.
This is why you want to keep the weight on your feet as low as possible.
Once again, cleats, trail runners or running shoes are often optimized to be lightweight.
Flexible
The best quidditch shoes should be flexible/sensitive and not stiff. Hiking shoes are often more stiff than trail runners, which is why these type of shoes are not ideal.
That said, some hiking shoes might be suitable if they are not too stiff/heavy and you feel really comfortable in them.
Fit & comfort
A bit obvious, but quidditch is a sport with lots of quick movements. Therefore, it’s really important that your foot doesn’t move around in the shoe that you are wearing.
Feeling comfortable on your feet will prevent unpleasant feelings…
Support & protection
This one if a bit more difficult because having a highly supportive and protective shoe, usually means the shoe is less flexible and heavier.
These are things that we don’t want. That said, depending on your needs and preferences, it might be worth it to find a good balance.
Conclusion: Best shoes for quidditch
That wraps up my recommendations for the best quidditch shoes.
If you are mainly wondering if you can use shoes you already own, the answer is probably yes. As long as you own good outdoor sport shoes. However, if these are not cleats or trail runners, your experience will not be as good as it could be.
Also, having good traction is very important. Especially when you are playing on wet grass, you might regret not going with one of my recommendations.
